Bietola A Cosa Argentata 2
|Beta Vulgaris Vulgaris|
This variety differs from others as it is grown not only for its fleshy stems but also for kitchen use as a young plant. The erect plant is about 24 inches tall and resistant to early flowering. The leaf stems are whitish-silver, broad and thick. It has smooth and slightly crinkly leaves that are bright green in color. Suitable for use both as fresh produce and by the frozen food industry.
From spring to summer in seeds or outdoors. For seed bed sowings, pull-up plants when 4-5 leaves have formed, remove top part and tip of root, replanting at intervals of 12 - 16 inches, with 16 - 24 inches between rows. For outdoor sowings thin out plants until the same distance are reached.
